The River Above The River Below
The River Above The River Below
T.J. Dolan (1898 to 1981) was a preeminent Stratford citizen who was highly involved in the formation of the Stratford Parks Board, the building of the Orr Dam, and, generally, the celebration of the river above the river below. The T.J. Dolan Natural Area, developed in 1985, covers 23 acres and includes native forestland.
We propose developing the route from the Shakespearean Gardens, through to the T.J. Dolan Natural Area, using existing paved, shared pathways, and enhancing the pedestrian-worn footpath by the river adjacent to the Stratford Intermediate School.
In a sense, this extension would be of greater interest to the naturalist than the tourist. However, it flows from the ambitious visions of the historical citizens of Stratford, who dreamed of a beautiful community for generations to come.
The River Above the River Below is a vision inspired by the Provocations Ideas Festival.
